Hollywood. Cash Only. Sonny’s has been in this same location for over fifty years. Upon entering Sonny’s, located in an obscure strip mall, you feel like you entered a time warp. I like that vibe. It means old school goodness awaits. I wanted to visit Sonny’s after Mike Mayo gave it a great review in the Sun Sentinel newspaper. Interestingly Mike said he preferred the hamburger and the chicken parm hogie to the steak hogie. So I had to try both of his recommendations. The hamburger hogie is one of the best in town. Topped with the works on a home baked roll. The beef was charred perfectly and had that old school beefy taste that is missing in most burgers today. A top notch burger at about $7. The chicken parmigiana hogie was good. The chicken was fresh. The sauce was tasty. All in all a satisfying hogie. But it is the burger hogie that makes me want to go back for more – Dandy Rathskeller Jr.
